SUMMARY:SMALL THINGS LIKE THESE - Danish release date on Oct 30th
DESCRIPTION:Experience a touching\, strong and haunting film starring Oscar-winner Cillian Murphy (‘Oppenheimer’) about compassion\, responsibility and courage\, based on the bestselling novel by Claire Keegan (‘The Quiet Girl’).\nOn the 30th of October\, Angel Films are releasing SMALL THINGS LIKE THESE in cinemas all over Denmark. A film that reminds us that the sins of the past are not far behind us. \nIreland\, 1980’s. While working as a coal merchant in order to support his family\, the devoted dad Bill Furlong discovers disturbing secrets kept hidden by the local church. The church is holding young girls\, who are pregnant out of wedlock\, confined against their will. Suddenly\, Bill’s own past submerges\, and as a father of five daughters\, he finds himself in a destructive moral dilemma. His discoveries force him to confront the silent complicity of the small town under the control of the Catholic church and to come to terms with his own past. \nThe film had its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival where Emily Watson (‘Breaking the Waves’) won the Silver Bear for Best Supporting Performance. D. 30. oktober har Angel Films Danmarkspremiere på SMALL THINGS LIKE THESE i en lang række biografer landet over.

SUMMARY:Nyahh Records presents: Mohammad Syfkhan SY/IE + Ultan O’Brien IE + HEDGLING IE
Koncerten præsenteres sammen med Final Descent.\n“I started Nyahh Records because I kept hearing new music in Ireland that I was really excited about and wanted to work with\, and that I thought deserved to reach more people. I find the quality of what’s coming out in Ireland right now to be amazing and I want to help to highlight it\,” har Willie Stewart\, der står bag det irske label Nyahh records\, udtalt. Nyahh? “I like that the Nyahh is unclassifiable\,” sagde han i det samme interview\, “That’s how I would like the releases on the label to be as well”. Woven Skull\, Boneyard Witch og Divil A’ Bit. \n\nJoin us on this unique tour of contemporary Irish folk music\, for a concert evening curated by Willie Stewart from the exciting Irish indie label Nyahh Records. The concert is presented in collaboration with Final Descent. \n“I started Nyahh Records because I kept hearing new music in Ireland that I was really excited about and wanted to work with\, and that I thought deserved to reach more people. I find the quality of what’s coming out in Ireland right now to be amazing and I want to help to highlight it\,” says Willie Stewart\, the founder of the Irish label Nyahh Records. He has now put together two different concert evenings at Alice with exactly that purpose: to showcase some of the most interesting and experimental Irish music right now. \nAll of the artists you can experience across these two evenings are affiliated with Nyahh Records. But what is this … Nyahh? According to Willie Stewart\, Nyahh refers to the soul inherent in music. But also to something that cannot quite be defined. “I like that the Nyahh is unclassifiable\,” he said in the same interview. “That’s how I would like the releases on the label to be as well.” Nyahh Records mainly releases experimental music and folk music from Ireland. And tonight you can look forward to violin virtuosity\, the sound of the bouzouki\, and atmospheric compositions filled with field recordings. \nHEDGLINGHedgling is a new duo consisting of Natalia Beylis and Willie Stewart\, the founder of Nyahh Records. They have previously played together in several bands\, including Woven Skull\, Boneyard Witch\, and Divil A’ Bit. With HEDGLING\, they build on these collaborations to create a new musical dimension. Their sound moves through the space between the familiar and the unknown parallel worlds that exist around\, above\, and beneath us. Percussion constellations made from found objects\, creaking harmonium drones\, and field recordings from the bogs and forests surrounding their home merge into an intimate portrait of the world they share. \nUltan O’BrienUltan O’Brien is a violinist and composer from the west of Ireland\, who works with both traditional Irish music as well as sound art and experimental music. With his unique approach and technique\, Ultan O’Brien brings something new to an ancient tradition\, sparking celebration and deep emotions wherever he tunes his violin. \nMohammad SyfkhanMohammad Syfkhan is a singer and bouzouki player. He began playing music in 1980 while studying to become a nurse. After graduating\, Mohammad moved to the city of Raqqa in Syria\, where he also began working as a professional singer and formed his own band\, The Al-Rabie Band. They performed at concerts\, parties\, weddings\, and festivals all over Syria and quickly became a sought-after orchestra. Their live performances included Kurdish\, Arabic\, Turkish\, and some Western songs\, as well as Mohammad’s own material. \nMohammad continued to perform with his band while also working as an operating room nurse until the war in Syria broke out in 2011. During the war\, Mohammad lost his son\, who was murdered by ISIS. After that\, the family had no choice but to leave their home and flee to Europe. Three of Mohammad’s sons settled in Germany\, while Mohammad\, his daughter\, and his wife moved to Ireland. Since then\, Mohammad has used the language of music to integrate into the local community\, performing at private parties and concerts.
