SUMMARY:Dropkick Murphys
\nBandets stærke katalog tæller blandt andet fire Billboard Top 10-albums: Turn Up That Dial\, 11 Short Stories Of Pain & Glory\, Signed and Sealed in Blood og Going Out In Style. Deres guldcertificerede album The Warrior’s Code indeholder desuden den dobbelte platin-klassiker I’m Shipping Up To Boston. \nUanset om man opdagede dem via et legendarisk klubshow\, ved at snuppe “Do Or Die” i ’98\, i Scorseses The Departed eller på en festivalplads\, er man blevet en del af det globale fællesskab\, bandet samler omkring sig. Med over en halv milliard streams\, mere end 8 millioner solgte enheder og et utal af udsolgte shows verden over står Dropkick Murphys stærkere end nogensinde. \nBandet har samtidig markeret sig med stort socialt engagement gennem deres velgørenhedsfond\, The Claddagh Fund\, og var blandt de første til at skabe store onlinekoncerter under pandemien\, bl.a. med Streaming Outta Fenway\, der nåede over 5\,9 millioner seere. \nI 2022 overraskede de med deres første akustiske album This Machine Still Kills Fascists og opfølgeren Okemah Rising\, bygget på hidtil upublicerede Woody Guthrie-tekster. \nDeres seneste album fra 2025\, For The People\, leverer et budskab om menneskelighed og sammenhold i en tid præget af splittelse – i klassisk Dropkick Murphys-ånd.

SUMMARY:CPH STAGE – musical dance production MÁM by the Irish company Teaċ Daṁsa
DESCRIPTION:CPH STAGE opens this year’s theatre festival with the spellbinding and musical dance production MÁM by the Irish company Teaċ Daṁsa.\nAt the foot of Ireland’s Mount Brandon\, on the western tip of the Dingle Peninsula\, stands a community hall. From here\, MÁM takes us on an otherworldly journey deeply rooted in Ireland’s extraordinary landscapes and captivating culture. \nIn a whirlwind of mystique and magic\, twelve international dancers take to the stage together with seven musicians from the Berlin-based collective s t a r g a z e\, as well as virtuoso concertina player Cormac Begley. With intensity and humour\, the dancers’ movements intertwine with both classical music and local folk traditions\, exploring the meeting point between national narratives and established systems. \nThe word mám carries several meanings—from “a duty” to “a handful of treats.” But “mountain pass” captures the essence of the production beautifully. The word comes from the local language of Corca Dhuibhne in West Kerry\, Ireland\, where choreographer Michael Keegan-Dolan created the piece. MÁM is thus a passage connecting nature and culture. \nThe dance company Teaċ Daṁsa was founded in 2016 with the aim of forging deeper connections to Ireland’s traditions\, language\, and music. The name Teaċ Daṁsa (House of Dance) reflects Michael’s journey to create dance and theatre works that clearly mirror the place they come from. \nThe performance is curated by CPH STAGE and presented in collaboration with the Royal Danish Theatre. \nUntil 31 December\, you can get a 50% discount when purchasing tickets for two different performances. Please note that for MÁM\, the offer applies to price categories B\, C\, and D. The offer is valid for a limited number of tickets. \nSpecial discount code for ICAD members – sent via email.

SUMMARY:Irish/Ugandan artist Sanyu plays Huset
DESCRIPTION:Sanyu creates an intense and genre-defying live universe\, where R&B\, jazz\, spoken word\, and electronic textures intertwine in a soulful and high-energy concert experience. \nIn recent years\, Sanyu has performed at festivals such as Øya and Trondheim Calling\, as well as regularly at jazz festivals in both Oslo and Copenhagen. Her debut EP\, Now You Hear It\, was described by Beehype as “a testament to true artistry and dedication to the craft” and was selected for their Best Albums of 2024 list. Her music video for “You Don’t Hear It (Do You?)” was also featured among the best music videos of 2024.Still\, the EP only offers a glimpse of what you can expect from her live performances. Released in October 2024\, it was followed by a tour across Germany\, Denmark\, Sweden\, and Norway in the winter of 2025. \nRooted in old-school R&B and improvisation\, her live shows are characterised by a soulful expression with warm harmonies\, while also exploring rap elements and groove-based riffs. The soundscape seamlessly blends acoustic and electronic elements.“Her determined and exploratory spirit\, combined with tactile spoken word and driving jazz\, is delivered to the audience with an energy that lasts all evening.” Her performance at VillVillVest was described as “by far the greatest experience of the festival.”On stage\, she is joined by some of the most distinctive musicians from the young Norwegian jazz and electronic scene: drummer Rino Sivathas\, multi-instrumentalist Kristina Fransson\, and double bassist Joachim Mørch Meyer. Together\, they create music that balances calmness and explosive energy. \n“By far the greatest experience of the festival” – Ellisiv Sunde Myrva\, Bergens Tidene \n“What a voice—full of dark warmth\, variation\, and something to say. And what a captivating and soulful expression\, clearly drawing energy from a wide range of musical tensions.” – Mads Kornum\, All That DK \n“She is impossible to categorise\, but everything she does radiates musicality.” – Mads Kornum\, All That DK \n“Hun er umulig at kategorisere\, men alt\, hvad hun gør\, udstråler musikalitet” – Engelsholm Events

SUMMARY:MADELEINE KATE MCGOWAN – at Performing Landscapes København 2026
\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPRAKTISK INFO\nVarighed: 60 min.\nDeltagere: 30\nAlder: Alle\nSprog: Dansk & engelsk \nVærket er funderet i vokalarbejde. SUMMARY:Vocal Performance - Do you see what I’m singing?
DESCRIPTION:This is a vocal performance that invites the audience to dissolve into a multisensory experience and explore the connection between Danish and Irish vocal traditions. \nAccording to Danish mythology\, Odin gained wisdom\, poetry\, and magic by sacrificing one of his eyes. In Ireland\, there is a long tradition of wisdom and otherworldly insight embodied by the blind seer. Blind musicians such as Turlough O’Carolan and bards like Antoine Ó Raifteiri captured the sounds\, stories\, and rhythms of life around them in haunting music and poetry that still resonate today. \nIn this performance\, the audience is invited to soften the dominance of sight and open themselves to the gifts that can emerge through a deeper connection to hearing—inner resonance\, imagination—and touch. Blindfolds will be available to support this sensory exploration. \nThe performance is created through an international collaboration between singer-songwriters Emilie Conway and Sussie Luscinia Nielsen\, sound artist David Navndrup Black\, and dancers from the FIMD group Dråbe. \nThe performance will be in Danish\, English\, and Gaelic. \nDuration: 40 minutes \nThe venue is wheelchair accessible.

SUMMARY:Concert with Irish group Na Leanaí
DESCRIPTION:Famous Folk Family from Northern Ireland\nThe Northern Irish band Na Leanaí – meaning “the children” – consists of cousins from the world-famous The Sands Family. They have inherited the talent and carry on the tradition with great style. \nThey performed at Copenhagen Folk Club a few years ago – representing the younger generation of the Northern Irish musical family\, The Sands Family from County Down. Now they return for a welcome reunion and encore performance as Na Leanaí\, which quite simply means “the children.” \nNa Leanaí are cousins who have clearly inherited both a remarkable musical talent and a deep interest in traditional music. They were immersed in it throughout their childhood and youth\, often accompanying their parents on tours around the world. \nMuch of their upbringing was spent visiting venues and concert halls across the globe—backstage\, behind the scenes\, and in the wings—though not quite on stage themselves. Still\, the music made a lasting impression. They learned from some of the finest and most successful musicians\, and in 2014 they fully committed to their own musical journey\, releasing their debut album in 2015. \nSorcha Turnbull\, Ryanne Sands\, Eimear Keane\, and Fra Sands naturally began with traditional Irish folk music\, which they had absorbed through their close-knit and accomplished family. Their beautiful voices were a given\, and Na Leanaí quickly developed their own strong family harmonies. Blending new and old elements\, they soon found their own path to success\, touring extensively and appearing multiple times at the Skagen Festival—which they will also attend again this year. \nSo far\, they have released two albums: Kindred Roots (2015) and Branching Out (2017). Surely\, more can be expected soon. \nThey have already achieved success across (especially) European stages\, thanks to their fresh energy and approach to traditional music—an invaluable musical heritage passed down from various members of the Sands Family. Na Leanaí both recognise and embrace their rich musical roots and the unique advantage of having been raised so closely connected to the tradition. \nTheir music has been described as having a “transatlantic flavour” and as being “full-bodied with strong dynamics.” Combined with deeply felt traditions and their close proximity to the music from an early age\, the result is nothing short of exhilarating. \nThe four members of Na Leanaí are living proof of the saying “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree\,” and they have certainly had the best possible foundation for creating something truly special. Their success in shaping their own sound—with songs in both Irish and English\, and beautifully blended voices—can be experienced live on this special evening. \nSorcha Turnbull is the daughter of Anne Sands\, Ryanne Sands is the daughter of Ben Sands\, Eimear Keane is also the daughter of Anne Sands\, and Fra Sands is the son of Hugh Sands. Moya Sands is the daughter of Tommy Sands (though not a member of this group\, as far as known). \nNa Leanaí play violins\, flutes\, guitar\, and percussion.

SUMMARY:Debate with Professor Sara Dybris McQuaid: Northern Ireland and the Long Road to Peace
Hun er i øjeblikket ved at færdiggøre en bog med titlen Administrations of Memory and the Politics of the “post-“: Northern Ireland 1994–2024. \nTilmelding: https://www.studieskolen.dk/en/about-us/events/tilmelding/4055-26-p4-26 \n\nChange\, Challenges and the Long and Winding Road to Peace\nOn 10 April 1998\, the historic Belfast/Good Friday Agreement was signed in Belfast\, Northern Ireland. It marked the official end to 30 years of conflict – but was it as simple as that? \nOn the 28th anniversary of the agreement\, Studieskolen welcomes Associate Professor Sara Dybris McQuaid (Aarhus University) for an analysis and debate on change\, challenges and conflicts in Northern Ireland since 1998. \nThe Agreement did not immediately resolve all the underlying contradictions. It also failed to heal the many societal fractures caused by decades of violence. \nSara has expertise in conflict transformation and the Northern Ireland peace process. She will explore some key questions such as: \n\n\n\nHow does a society go “back to normal” when there has been a serious breakdown of relations\, institutions and norms?\nWhat are the main challenges in peacebuilding?\nWhat challenges does Northern Ireland face today – from political dysfunction to the impact of Bexit?\nHow can Northern Ireland go forward in relation to the rest of the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland?\n\n\n\nJoin the debate \nAfter the talk\, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss them. You can choose to talk about the topics brought up in the talk or add any other questions you have that are related \nYou don’t need to speak perfect English – just come if you want to participate\, listen\, and share your impressions. The conversation will take place in English at a pace that everyone can follow. \nSara Dybris McQuaid (PhD) is Associate Professor in British and Irish History\, Society and Culture at Aarhus University. A contemporary historian and political scientist\, she works across peace and conflict studies and memory studies\, with a focus on how societies remember\, forget and archive their past – particularly in relation to the Northern Ireland peace process. She is currently completing a book entitled Administrations of Memory and the Politics of the “post-“: Northern Ireland 1994–2024. \nEvent details:\nFriday 10 April 2026 16:00-17:40\nBorgergade 14\, 1st floor\, room 131\nIt’s free\, but please sign up in advance.\nEveryone is welcome! \nRegister here: https://www.studieskolen.dk/en/about-us/events/tilmelding/4055-26-p4-26
