SUMMARY:THE SCRATCH
DESCRIPTION:After a high-octane concert in autumn 2025\, The Scratch return to Pumpehuset with their distinctive and festive blend of Irish folk music and metal. \nThe Scratch began as a project between friends in Dublin\, but after a viral video from the Rory Gallagher Festival in 2017\, it quickly grew into something much bigger. Since then\, they have made a strong mark with the album Mind Yourself (2023)\, which reached #1 on the Irish vinyl chart and #3 on the official album chart. The album was nominated for Irish Album of the Year at the Choice Music Prize\, and the band has since received attention from BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 6\, as well as appearing on The Late Late Show. \nIn recent years\, they’ve been constantly on the move: touring the US with Dropkick Murphys\, playing festivals across Europe\, heading to Australia with Dermot Kennedy\, and taking the stage at Download Festival in the UK. At the same time\, their music has made its way into the Netflix series House of Guinness. \nWith their third album Pull Like A Dog\, set for release on March 6\, 2026\, the band brings together threads from their earlier work while pushing their sound forward. The title comes from a quote about closing your eyes and fully committing—an approach that also defines the band itself. As they put it\, it’s all about “sending it” and seeing what happens. \nThe Scratch are known for concerts that sweep the audience up from the very first second\, with energy\, presence\, and a strong sense of community at the core. How did an Irish tradition become a global phenomenon? \nDiscover how Halloween began over 2000 years ago in Ireland with the Celtic festival of Samhain marking the end of the harvest and the start of winter. Celebrated on 31 October\, it was seen as a liminal moment when the boundary between the living and the dead became blurred\, allowing spirits to cross into our world. This festival eventually developed into the Catholic feast days of All Souls and All Saints (with links to Día de los Muertos) \nStudieskolen welcomes award-winning writer Brendan Killeen for a talk and lively debate about this cultural phenomenon that grips both Ireland and Denmark. Brendan is an award-winning Irish journalist\, writer and editor who has been living in Copenhagen for 20 years. He works in communications at the European Environment Agency and is currently working on a collection of short stories. \nHalloween around the world today \nHalloween is now part of global popular culture thanks to social media\, TV and films. However\, Brendan’s recollections of Halloween in Dublin of the 1970’s involved dubious\, homemade costumes and handouts of fruit and nuts! And his first experience of Halloween in Denmark involved his children being offered a sausage by a confused neighbour. \nWe will also look at some central questions: How did the tradition of using turnips as laterns change to pumpkins? How is Halloween celebrated today in Ireland? How do the Danes celebrate Halloween? \nJoin the debate \nAfter the talk\, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss them. DESCRIPTION:Irsk duo\, der kan det hele \nNuala Kennedy & Eamon O’Leary sætter CFC’s efterårs-sæson 2026 i gang\, og så kan det da ikke blive meget bedre. Sangerinden\, som også er kendt som dygtig  fløjtespiller\, brillerer ikke mindst med sin varme\, indtagende stemm. Den er hørt og nydt særdeles ofte i Danmark\, fordi hun blandt meget andet også turnerer med Eskil Romme og Himmerland og også andre. \nHendes musikalske partner\, Eamon Leary med speciale i strenge\, har i mange år boet i New York\, men de finder tiden til koncerter og turneer sammen og med diverse andre musikere.  Deres nyeste fælles smukke (og succesfulde) album\, ”Hydra”\, indspillede dei 2024  på den lille\, græske ø Hydra\, som blev kendtfor mange år siden\, ikke mindst gennem Leonard Cohens berømte ophold med sin norske Marianne. \nO’Leary og Kennedy har spillet og finpudset deres fælles “act” i artier og i mange koncertsale og spillesteder i en stor del af verden. Sammen med den superbe guitarist John Doyle\, som CFC har præsenteret i diverse sammenhænge\, har de trioen The Alt. \nPuster liv i gamle sange \nDe to irske kunstnere denne aften deler interessen for at samle knap så kendte gamle sange og melodier og give dem nyt liv for et nutidigt (og meget interesseret) publikum på en både intenst dragende og charmerende måde\, som de har finpudset sammen I mange år. Det har de gjort ved et både flittig og engageret turnéliv i snart sagt alle slags venues\, store og små\, inde og ude\, her\, der og alle vegne. \nNaturligvis har de to kendte og unikke musikere samarbejdet med mange andre\, som man jo gør meget ud af i folk’en\, der er fyldt med dygtige musikere\, som hver især altid har øjne og ører for hinanden. Her kunne vi nok fylde mange linjer med navne\,de har spillet med\, her blot Kevin Burke\, Mike Scott\, Beth Orton\, Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy\, Liz Carroll\, John Doyle og selvfølgelig vores egen Eskil Romme og Himmerland\, der har turneret adskillige gange i bl.a. Australien. \nTidløst lydtæppe \nNuala Kennedy og Eamon O’Leary er vigtige og populære repræsentanter for både den irske trad-musik\, den kontemporære\, som de jo også selv skriver\, og countryinfluerede\, og de spiller det hele med stort overskud\, nærvær og diskret virtuositet i både sange og instrumentalnumre. På “Hydra” spiller de egne numre om havet (lige uden for studiets store åbne vinduer på Hydra)\, om kærlighed\, arbejde\, ritualer\, emigration\, krig\, mens øen vibrerer af liv og rum og en mærkbar og åbenlys glæde ved stedet og at fortælle om det. The Guardian valgte det som ”Folk Album of the month”\, og “Hydra” fik storslåede anmeldelser rundt om i verden. Både for deres instrumentale ekvilibrisme og sangskrivning – og for det rige og smukke ”tæppe af traditionel sang og tidløse historier”. Only 7 % of European Fortune 500 have female CEOs and less than 20% of Danish companies\, with more than 50 employees\, have women on their boards.  \nThrough thought-provoking narrative\, the play shines a light on important structural and cultural barriers that unfortunately still exist in management.  \nThe intimate staging creates an intense\, and at times humorous\, experience where the audience become witnesses to the drama up close to the actors. \nPLOT SUMMARY\nChairman\, Mason\, leads a traditional male-dominated company. He is interviewing Samantha\, who is applying for the position of CEO. Behind closed doors an intense power-play unfolds in a story that raises important questions about leadership\, gender\, and morality. The play is based on the author’s own experiences as a former CEO and Chair of technology companies\, ensuring both authenticity and a nuanced treatment of the themes. \nThe play is returning after a successful run in 2025\, due to high demand for tickets from schools and business networks. From here\, MÁM takes us on an otherworldly journey deeply rooted in Ireland’s extraordinary landscapes and captivating culture. \nIn a whirlwind of mystique and magic\, twelve international dancers take to the stage together with seven musicians from the Berlin-based collective s t a r g a z e\, as well as virtuoso concertina player Cormac Begley.With intensity and humour\, the dancers’ movements intertwine with both classical music and local folk traditions\, exploring the meeting point between national narratives and established systems. \nThe word mám carries several meanings—from “a duty” to “a handful of treats.” But “mountain pass” captures the essence of the production beautifully. The word comes from the local language of Corca Dhuibhne in West Kerry\, Ireland\, where choreographer Michael Keegan-Dolan created the piece. MÁM is thus a passage connecting nature and culture. \nThe dance company Teaċ Daṁsa was founded in 2016 with the aim of forging deeper connections to Ireland’s traditions\, language\, and music. DESCRIPTION:Sanyu creates an intense and genre-defying live universe\, where R&B\, jazz\, spoken word\, and electronic textures intertwine in a soulful and high-energy concert experience. \nIn recent years\, Sanyu has performed at festivals such as Øya and Trondheim Calling\, as well as regularly at jazz festivals in both Oslo and Copenhagen. Her debut EP\, Now You Hear It\, was described by Beehype as “a testament to true artistry and dedication to the craft” and was selected for their Best Albums of 2024 list. Her music video for “You Don’t Hear It (Do You?)” was also featured among the best music videos of 2024.Still\, the EP only offers a glimpse of what you can expect from her live performances. Released in October 2024\, it was followed by a tour across Germany\, Denmark\, Sweden\, and Norway in the winter of 2025. \nRooted in old-school R&B and improvisation\, her live shows are characterised by a soulful expression with warm harmonies\, while also exploring rap elements and groove-based riffs. The soundscape seamlessly blends acoustic and electronic elements.“Her determined and exploratory spirit\, combined with tactile spoken word and driving jazz\, is delivered to the audience with an energy that lasts all evening.” Her performance at VillVillVest was described as “by far the greatest experience of the festival.”On stage\, she is joined by some of the most distinctive musicians from the young Norwegian jazz and electronic scene: drummer Rino Sivathas\, multi-instrumentalist Kristina Fransson\, and double bassist Joachim Mørch Meyer. DESCRIPTION:MADELEINE KATE MCGOWAN – Planting Songs\nLån din stemme til planterne – kollektiv sang\nPlanting Songs er en serie sange\, der levendegør lokale planter – deres kvaliteter\, særpræg og skjulte evner. Scenekunstner Madeleine Kate McGowan har inviteret en række komponister til at skabe sange\, der giver planterne stemme og gør dem nærværende gennem musik\, tekst og fælles sang. \nDu er inviteret til en kollektiv stemmeleg\, hvor nye fællessange og traditioner kan slå rod. I en tid\, hvor vi må genopfinde vores måder at være sammen på\, undersøger Planting Songs\, hvordan sang kan blive en sanselig og kropslig måde at lære\, huske og forbinde sig til verden på. \nHver sang bærer viden om en bestemt lokal plante – dens egenskaber\, livsformer og relationer. Når vi synger planterne\, lagres denne viden i kroppen. Sangen bliver dermed både en overlevering\, et levende arkiv og en øvelse i at skabe nærhed mellem mennesker og den mere-end-menneskelige verden. \nPlanting Songs peger mod en ny økologisk sangtradition\, hvor stemme\, hukommelse og fællesskab væves sammen. Et poetisk og deltagende værk\, der undersøger\, hvordan kunst kan styrke vores kulturelle og økologiske robusthed ved at lære os at huske\, sanse og relatere os til de planter\, vi lever iblandt. \n  \nOM MADELEINE KATE MCGOWAN\nMadeleine Kate McGowan er dansk/irsk kunstner og instruktør med en tværæstetisk praksis\, der bevæger sig mellem performance\, lyd\, tekst\, økologi og social koreografi.
