SUMMARY:Vocal Performance - Do you see what I’m singing?
DESCRIPTION:This is a vocal performance that invites the audience to dissolve into a multisensory experience and explore the connection between Danish and Irish vocal traditions. \nAccording to Danish mythology\, Odin gained wisdom\, poetry\, and magic by sacrificing one of his eyes. In Ireland\, there is a long tradition of wisdom and otherworldly insight embodied by the blind seer. Blind musicians such as Turlough O’Carolan and bards like Antoine Ó Raifteiri captured the sounds\, stories\, and rhythms of life around them in haunting music and poetry that still resonate today. \nIn this performance\, the audience is invited to soften the dominance of sight and open themselves to the gifts that can emerge through a deeper connection to hearing—inner resonance\, imagination—and touch. Blindfolds will be available to support this sensory exploration. \nThe performance is created through an international collaboration between singer-songwriters Emilie Conway and Sussie Luscinia Nielsen\, sound artist David Navndrup Black\, and dancers from the FIMD group Dråbe. \nThe performance will be in Danish\, English\, and Gaelic. \nDuration: 40 minutes \nThe venue is wheelchair accessible.

SUMMARY:Concert with Irish group Na Leanaí
DESCRIPTION:Famous Folk Family from Northern Ireland\nThe Northern Irish band Na Leanaí – meaning “the children” – consists of cousins from the world-famous The Sands Family. They have inherited the talent and carry on the tradition with great style. \nThey performed at Copenhagen Folk Club a few years ago – representing the younger generation of the Northern Irish musical family\, The Sands Family from County Down. Now they return for a welcome reunion and encore performance as Na Leanaí\, which quite simply means “the children.” \nNa Leanaí are cousins who have clearly inherited both a remarkable musical talent and a deep interest in traditional music. They were immersed in it throughout their childhood and youth\, often accompanying their parents on tours around the world. \nMuch of their upbringing was spent visiting venues and concert halls across the globe—backstage\, behind the scenes\, and in the wings—though not quite on stage themselves. Still\, the music made a lasting impression. They learned from some of the finest and most successful musicians\, and in 2014 they fully committed to their own musical journey\, releasing their debut album in 2015. \nSorcha Turnbull\, Ryanne Sands\, Eimear Keane\, and Fra Sands naturally began with traditional Irish folk music\, which they had absorbed through their close-knit and accomplished family. Their beautiful voices were a given\, and Na Leanaí quickly developed their own strong family harmonies. Blending new and old elements\, they soon found their own path to success\, touring extensively and appearing multiple times at the Skagen Festival—which they will also attend again this year. \nSo far\, they have released two albums: Kindred Roots (2015) and Branching Out (2017). Surely\, more can be expected soon. \nThey have already achieved success across (especially) European stages\, thanks to their fresh energy and approach to traditional music—an invaluable musical heritage passed down from various members of the Sands Family. Na Leanaí both recognise and embrace their rich musical roots and the unique advantage of having been raised so closely connected to the tradition. \nTheir music has been described as having a “transatlantic flavour” and as being “full-bodied with strong dynamics.” Combined with deeply felt traditions and their close proximity to the music from an early age\, the result is nothing short of exhilarating. \nThe four members of Na Leanaí are living proof of the saying “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree\,” and they have certainly had the best possible foundation for creating something truly special. Their success in shaping their own sound—with songs in both Irish and English\, and beautifully blended voices—can be experienced live on this special evening. \nSorcha Turnbull is the daughter of Anne Sands\, Ryanne Sands is the daughter of Ben Sands\, Eimear Keane is also the daughter of Anne Sands\, and Fra Sands is the son of Hugh Sands. Moya Sands is the daughter of Tommy Sands (though not a member of this group\, as far as known). \nNa Leanaí play violins\, flutes\, guitar\, and percussion.

SUMMARY:Debate with Professor Sara Dybris McQuaid: Northern Ireland and the Long Road to Peace
Hun er i øjeblikket ved at færdiggøre en bog med titlen Administrations of Memory and the Politics of the “post-“: Northern Ireland 1994–2024. \nTilmelding: https://www.studieskolen.dk/en/about-us/events/tilmelding/4055-26-p4-26 \n\nChange\, Challenges and the Long and Winding Road to Peace\nOn 10 April 1998\, the historic Belfast/Good Friday Agreement was signed in Belfast\, Northern Ireland. It marked the official end to 30 years of conflict – but was it as simple as that? \nOn the 28th anniversary of the agreement\, Studieskolen welcomes Associate Professor Sara Dybris McQuaid (Aarhus University) for an analysis and debate on change\, challenges and conflicts in Northern Ireland since 1998. \nThe Agreement did not immediately resolve all the underlying contradictions. It also failed to heal the many societal fractures caused by decades of violence. \nSara has expertise in conflict transformation and the Northern Ireland peace process. She will explore some key questions such as: \n\n\n\nHow does a society go “back to normal” when there has been a serious breakdown of relations\, institutions and norms?\nWhat are the main challenges in peacebuilding?\nWhat challenges does Northern Ireland face today – from political dysfunction to the impact of Bexit?\nHow can Northern Ireland go forward in relation to the rest of the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland?\n\n\n\nJoin the debate \nAfter the talk\, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and discuss them. You can choose to talk about the topics brought up in the talk or add any other questions you have that are related \nYou don’t need to speak perfect English – just come if you want to participate\, listen\, and share your impressions. SUMMARY:Seamus Fogarty + Samantha Whates & Ida Wenøe
DESCRIPTION:Three outstanding voices from the contemporary folk scene unite vulnerability\, beauty\, and musical curiosity in a deeply moving concert experience.\n\nSeamus Fogarty\nSeamus Fogarty grew up on Ireland’s west coast but has been based in London since 2011. \nWith each release\, Fogarty has refined a truly distinctive style\, marked by a singular\, emotive\, and inquisitive approach to music-making. Fragmented electronic sounds collide with melodic fragments\, drones\, and field recordings. His songs challenge the core elements of traditional styles such as folk\, blues\, and country. Fogarty is far more interested in twisting and reshaping music into something entirely different—a world of softly motoric basslines\, twanging banjos\, and drifting\, swelling strings. \nFogarty has toured extensively across the UK\, Ireland\, and Europe\, performing at prominent festivals including Green Man\, Eurosonic\, Latitude\, Electric Picnic\, Moseley Folk\, and Haldern Pop. \nThe Guardian awarded Fogarty five stars\, writing:“Magical journeys through fable and modern life and back again\, often in the same song.” \nSamantha Whates\nSamantha Whates is a highly respected artist on the British folk and roots scene. Her beautiful\, poetic songs capture both the pain and the beauty of human life\, while maintaining a strong connection to her Scottish roots. \nWhates has developed her own distinctive fingerpicking technique\, and her songs are structurally bold. Her pure\, clear voice meets raw field recordings and is enriched by unconventional choral arrangements. Samantha’s skills in vocal harmony have taken her far—from worldwide tours with Noel Gallagher\, to praise from Dolly Parton\, and now to near-symbiotic recordings and live collaborations with Ida Wenøe. \nIda Wenøe\nIda Wenøe has carved out her own musical territory by blending international influences such as Nick Drake\, Joni Mitchell\, and Beth Gibbons with her roots\, which range from traditional folk music and the Danish Højskolesangbogen to inspiration from English folk. \nShe has performed hundreds of concerts across Europe and North America\, earning a reputation as an intense and powerful live performer. \nIda Wenøe works with a condensed\, evocative form of storytelling\, often drawing inspiration from nature. Her voice carries both fragility and strength\, echoing folk traditions of the 1960s and 1970s while always retaining a distinctive personal touch. The accompaniment is characterised by subtle yet insistent guitar work\, supported by violin\, double bass\, and flutes—and\, not least\, soaring vocal harmonies. \nIn 2021\, she won a Danish Music Award as “Danish Roots Artist of the Year\,” and Clash Magazine describes her as:“Bewitching acid folk with a deeply personal edge.” \nThe Guardian giver Fogarty 5 stjerner\, og skriver følgende ‘Magical journeys through fable and modern life and back again\, often in the same song’ \nSamantha Whates\nSamantha Whates er en højt respekteret kunstner på den britiske folk- og roots scene.

SUMMARY:The Divine Comedy
DESCRIPTION:The Divine Comedy in VEGA \nThroughout his 36-year long career\, Neil Hannon\, the driving force behind The Divine Comedy\, has released uncompromising\, intelligent lyrics that match his quirky chamber pop compositions without any hesitation. \nFans can now rejoice that the thirteenth album of his solo project is just around the corner. In September\, the pop master is back with a new album\, Rainy Sunday Afternoon. He will be taking that and Hannon’s entire impressive back catalogue with him on his 2026 tour\, where Lille VEGA on. March 22 will be the setting for another one of The Divine Comedy’s legendary concerts. \nWith its contrasting chamber pop\, which English music critics have associated with The Cure\, Morrissey and Blur\, The Divine Comedy has gathered an impressive fan base. \nDanish reviewers have showered Hannon’s Danish concerts with stars. The last time Neil Hannon filled Lille VEGA was in 2017. The paper Information sent Klaus Lynggaard to rewiew the concert and he described it as “superb”. In his review\, Lynggaard explains why one of Britain’s most recognized songwriters – despite worldwide popularity – is perfect in Lille VEGA’s smaller concert hall: “This is certainly due to the excessively high quality and excessive intelligence that Neil Hannon insists on displaying\, both lyrically and musically\, but it was paradoxically the audience’s luck\, because the intimacy and the whole atmosphere of celebration that characterized the event this Tuesday evening would certainly have been lost in a larger venue. Simply divine\, dear.” Simply divine\, dear.”

SUMMARY:CMAT
\n \nUp-and-coming CMAT mixes pop and country in VEGA\nFew musicians cite both Dolly Parton and Katy Perry as musical role models. However\, these sources of inspiration make perfect sense when you listen to CMAT’s panoramic sunshine pop with an undercurrent of country vibes. \nIrish Ciara Mary-Alice Thompson – whose stage name is a contraction of the initials of her real name – has in recent years distinguished herself as one of the most exciting new pop names. She has been compared to\, among others\, American Chappell Roan and English Lola Young\, but CMAT is her own unique pop entity\, elegantly bridging tradition and the present. \nHer 2022 debut If My Wife New I’d Be Dead is a formidable mix of ear-massaging melodies and lyrics that\, with humorous excess\, revolve around\, among other things\, love\, broken hearts and mental health. The follow-up Crazymad\, for Me (2023) effortlessly builds on the qualities of its predecessor and was nominated for the prestigious British album award Mercury Prize in 2024. And on August 29\, her third studio album Euro-Country will be released\, from which the excellent single precursors have warmed up to another superb album experience. \nHere in Denmark\, many music lovers have opened their ears to the Irish powerhouse via her concerts at Roskilde Festival 2024 and SYD FOR SOLEN 2025. The latter show honored GAFFA with 5 sparkling stars and the following invitation: “If you need ideas for your next wish list\, CMAT tickets should be at the top.” Now you can update your wishlist\, because on March 21\, 2026\, CMAT will return to Denmark\, where she will sing the songs from her new album at Store VEGA.”

SUMMARY:Dea Matrona i VEGA

SUMMARY:SPRINTS concert in Christiania
DESCRIPTION:The Irish garage punk quartet SPRINTS will hit the stage at Loppen on March 17\, 2026\, with a new lineup and a new album. With their critically acclaimed debut album Letter to Self (2024) and the explosive new album All That Is Over in their luggage\, SPRINTS are cementing their position as one of the most exciting voices in the modern punk rock scene. \nSPRINTS were formed in Dublin in 2019 and today consist of Karla Chubb (vocals\, guitar)\, Sam McCann (bass\, vocals)\, Jack Callan (drums)\, and the newest member Zac Stephenson (guitar). The band has undergone a remarkable development – both artistically and personally – and has built a dedicated fanbase through honest lyrics and a unique cocktail of intricate alternative rock combined with brutal bursts of noise punk and grunge. \nTheir new album\, All That Is Over\, was written in the midst of a time of personal upheaval and a world in turmoil – shaped by wars\, the climate crisis\, and a constant struggle for identity and justice. Lead singer Karla Chubb describes it as a work born out of necessity: \n“I wrote every day because there was so much to process. Breakups\, political crises\, identity – and at the same time the beauty of finding community in music and in each other.” \nSPRINTS’ live performances are known for their energy and authenticity – and with a new album and a new lineup\, SPRINTS are ready to take the stage with more strength\, confidence\, and raw intensity than ever before.

SUMMARY:Concert with Irish-American group DUG
DESCRIPTION:Experience DUG’s unique blend of Irish and American folk when the duo behind the acclaimed singles Big Sundown and Jubilee take the stage at Musikcaféen.\nThere is a natural magnetism to DUG’s folk music. The duo—Conor (Lorkin) O’Reilly and Jonny Pickett—are preparing to release their debut album after forming in 2023\, yet it feels as though they’ve been writing together their entire lives. \nTheir music is rooted in traditions from both sides of the Atlantic. On one hand\, they echo the great American folk musicians; on the other\, they effortlessly channel the elder statesmen of Irish folk music. \nThis is no coincidence. DUG share a transatlantic musical heritage\, having been born in America and Scotland before settling in Ireland. O’Reilly himself spent nearly a decade writing and releasing music in upstate New York after leaving his hometown of Edinburgh (his mother is Irish and his father Scottish)\, before moving to Ireland in 2022 to begin a new musical chapter. \nYou can hear that lived musical experience in singles such as Big Sundown and Jubilee (the latter nominated for two Grammy Awards). Resonator guitar and banjo—the building blocks of DUG’s arrangements—lick and spin with intricate fingerpicking patterns that swirl together into a captivating whole. Their music breathes and vamps in perfect synchrony. \nThey’re also wickedly funny. DUG’s lyrics often catch you off guard\, prompting genuine laughter in moments of lightness. At their best—such as on their upcoming album—there’s a real warmth spread across their distinctive take on folk storytelling. Tracks like Wheel of Fortune have an easy rapport; it’s like meeting an old friend\, full of teasing and smiles. \nThere are nods to darker moments too: longing and melancholy\, hard-learned lessons. Balancing the heavy with the light—and translating it into a foot-tapping\, infectious modern folk sound—is what DUG do best. They don’t need to play at comedy; their music is naturally playful and honest\, inviting you along on their musical journey. \nDUG’s love for the musicians who inspire them never tips into reverence. They are an uncompromisingly modern band. You’ll hear plenty of Irish influence in their music\, but there are no tweed jackets or paddy caps here. Instead\, the band chooses simply to be themselves—organic and unforced. This is part of what gives their work such strong charisma and helps establish DUG as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary folk. \nIn 2024\, the duo signed with Claddagh Records\, a label where they find themselves in excellent musical company. A subsidiary of Universal Records\, Claddagh has in recent years become a hub for some of the most forward-thinking artists in modern Irish folk\, including Niamh Bury\, Lemoncello\, and ØXN\, to name just a few. \nIt’s no surprise that a group who delight in being a little cheeky while remaining so deeply true to themselves has built a thriving community of fans—both at their live shows and through their often hilarious social media presence. \nTickets: https://billetto.dk/e/dug-ie-musikcafeen-billetter-1740605?utm_source=organiser&utm_medium=share&utm_campaign=copy_link&utm_content=1

SUMMARY:Celtic Utopia Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:Celtic Utopia\n\n\nDennis Harvey & Lars Lovén / Sweden & Ireland / 2025 / 90 min \n \n\nWhat does Irish folk music sound like in 2026? There are as many answers to that question as there are singers in the countless pubs where the genre is still kept alive throughout Ireland today. \n\nEven after 100 years of independence from England\, the colonial era still haunts the streets of Ireland\, not least in folk music\, which has been revived among a generation of young people who take pride in their Irish language and nationality. \n‘Celtic Utopia’ unravels modern Irish history and introduces us to a refreshingly broad cast of characters\, including pierced punks\, rappers\, and ravers\, who come together to revive and reinterpret the classic folk music tradition with humor and renewed indignation. Prominent groups such as The Mary Wallopers and Lankum deliver sharp punchlines and even sharper songs\, of which there are fortunately plenty in the film.

SUMMARY:ON SNOW AND QUICKSAND by FERGAL O'BYRNE
DESCRIPTION:ON SNOW AND QUICKSAND by FERGAL O’BYRNE (A drama about guilt\, secrets and redemption) \nThree people find themselves trapped during a fierce snowstorm in an isolated bar where time stands still and reality shifts. Stan (Kevin Kiernan-Molloy)\, his uncle Dunphy (Ian Burns)\, and young Amy (Mikka Deleuran) are forced to confront buried truths as the mysterious Clem (Maja Muhlack) observes their every move. Soon they discover connections they never imagined in a haunting game of revelation and reckoning. \nThe drama comes alive under the assured direction of Barry McKenna blending everyday realism with the supernatural. Award-winning Irish writer Fergal O’Byrne once again explores profound themes of choice\, responsibility\, and redemption in a world where truth is as fluid as quicksand. \nBuy tickets here:  billet.to/1596198-osaq-sig

SUMMARY:Dublin\, Guinness og James Joyce
Stephen Knight er manden bag House of Guinness. \nKursuspriser: \n\nDeltager i enkeltværelse: 5.500\,- kr.\nDeltager i delt dobbeltværelse: 4.500\,- kr.\nDeltager uden værelse: 3.500\,- kr.\n\nOpholdet inkluderer fuld forplejning\, kaffe/te/vand undervejs og sengelinned/håndklæde. \nTilmelding: https://www.kursus.tisvildehoejskole.dk/site/index.php?1=1&icCode=6eca69e45b975e740fa58b5529b96c6ab11252&eUID=5A3D40E4-10CB-4BA7-B401-94CB3A55262A-393&dTpl=1

SUMMARY:Almost Irish
DESCRIPTION:Almost Irish is a young folk band from Denmark with experience\, joy of playing\, and a very special musical upbringing. The four members of the band have lived through that upbringing together—because\, having the same mother and father\, they are brothers. The soundtrack to the boys’ childhood played from their father’s record player\, where countless Irish\, Scottish\, and Danish bands and folk singers performed songs that were hard to forget. \nWhen the brothers reached school age\, they each\, one by one\, enrolled in the local music school and began exploring different instruments. In 2002\, they met Derry-born folk musician Denis McLaughlin\, who truly introduced them to the world of Irish folk music\, taught them to play the familiar songs from their childhood\, and thus planted the seed that would grow into what is now Almost Irish. Since then\, the boys have toured extensively across Denmark\, with small detours to Norway\, Germany\, Northern Ireland\, and Scotland. They have released five CDs—or six\, if you count their very first\, now sold-out CD\, produced in a limited run of 15 copies. They’ve worked their way onto stages across the country and have gradually established a recognized and well-known name in the world of folk music. \nAlmost Irish has a deep understanding of traditional Irish and Scottish folk music and the advantage of knowing each other both as musicians and as brothers. Together\, they bring a unique energy and joy of playing to the stage\, and their broad repertoire of traditional songs and melodies reflects interpretation\, creativity\, innovation\, and respect for tradition. Almost Irish are talented musicians—and not least\, storytellers—and have therefore become a respected representative of the folk music tradition.

But in Scotland and Ireland\, opposition grew. The Jacobites – devout Catholics and supporters of the Stuart line – fought against the new Protestant power. \nHere we meet Isla\, born without speech but with a dancing strength that speaks louder than words.
