SUMMARY:SPRINTS concert in Christiania
DESCRIPTION:The Irish garage punk quartet SPRINTS will hit the stage at Loppen on March 17\, 2026\, with a new lineup and a new album. With their critically acclaimed debut album Letter to Self (2024) and the explosive new album All That Is Over in their luggage\, SPRINTS are cementing their position as one of the most exciting voices in the modern punk rock scene. \nSPRINTS were formed in Dublin in 2019 and today consist of Karla Chubb (vocals\, guitar)\, Sam McCann (bass\, vocals)\, Jack Callan (drums)\, and the newest member Zac Stephenson (guitar). The band has undergone a remarkable development – both artistically and personally – and has built a dedicated fanbase through honest lyrics and a unique cocktail of intricate alternative rock combined with brutal bursts of noise punk and grunge. \nTheir new album\, All That Is Over\, was written in the midst of a time of personal upheaval and a world in turmoil – shaped by wars\, the climate crisis\, and a constant struggle for identity and justice. Lead singer Karla Chubb describes it as a work born out of necessity: \n“I wrote every day because there was so much to process. Breakups\, political crises\, identity – and at the same time the beauty of finding community in music and in each other.” \nSPRINTS’ live performances are known for their energy and authenticity – and with a new album and a new lineup\, SPRINTS are ready to take the stage with more strength\, confidence\, and raw intensity than ever before.

SUMMARY:Concert with Irish-American group DUG
DESCRIPTION:Experience DUG’s unique blend of Irish and American folk when the duo behind the acclaimed singles Big Sundown and Jubilee take the stage at Musikcaféen.\nThere is a natural magnetism to DUG’s folk music. The duo—Conor (Lorkin) O’Reilly and Jonny Pickett—are preparing to release their debut album after forming in 2023\, yet it feels as though they’ve been writing together their entire lives. \nTheir music is rooted in traditions from both sides of the Atlantic. On one hand\, they echo the great American folk musicians; on the other\, they effortlessly channel the elder statesmen of Irish folk music. \nThis is no coincidence. DUG share a transatlantic musical heritage\, having been born in America and Scotland before settling in Ireland. O’Reilly himself spent nearly a decade writing and releasing music in upstate New York after leaving his hometown of Edinburgh (his mother is Irish and his father Scottish)\, before moving to Ireland in 2022 to begin a new musical chapter. \nYou can hear that lived musical experience in singles such as Big Sundown and Jubilee (the latter nominated for two Grammy Awards). Resonator guitar and banjo—the building blocks of DUG’s arrangements—lick and spin with intricate fingerpicking patterns that swirl together into a captivating whole. Their music breathes and vamps in perfect synchrony. \nThey’re also wickedly funny. DUG’s lyrics often catch you off guard\, prompting genuine laughter in moments of lightness. At their best—such as on their upcoming album—there’s a real warmth spread across their distinctive take on folk storytelling. Tracks like Wheel of Fortune have an easy rapport; it’s like meeting an old friend\, full of teasing and smiles. \nThere are nods to darker moments too: longing and melancholy\, hard-learned lessons. Balancing the heavy with the light—and translating it into a foot-tapping\, infectious modern folk sound—is what DUG do best. They don’t need to play at comedy; their music is naturally playful and honest\, inviting you along on their musical journey. \nDUG’s love for the musicians who inspire them never tips into reverence. They are an uncompromisingly modern band. You’ll hear plenty of Irish influence in their music\, but there are no tweed jackets or paddy caps here. Instead\, the band chooses simply to be themselves—organic and unforced. This is part of what gives their work such strong charisma and helps establish DUG as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary folk. \nIn 2024\, the duo signed with Claddagh Records\, a label where they find themselves in excellent musical company. A subsidiary of Universal Records\, Claddagh has in recent years become a hub for some of the most forward-thinking artists in modern Irish folk\, including Niamh Bury\, Lemoncello\, and ØXN\, to name just a few. \nIt’s no surprise that a group who delight in being a little cheeky while remaining so deeply true to themselves has built a thriving community of fans—both at their live shows and through their often hilarious social media presence. \nTickets: https://billetto.dk/e/dug-ie-musikcafeen-billetter-1740605?utm_source=organiser&utm_medium=share&utm_campaign=copy_link&utm_content=1

SUMMARY:Celtic Utopia Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:Celtic Utopia\n\n\nDennis Harvey & Lars Lovén / Sweden & Ireland / 2025 / 90 min \n \n\nWhat does Irish folk music sound like in 2026? There are as many answers to that question as there are singers in the countless pubs where the genre is still kept alive throughout Ireland today. \n\nEven after 100 years of independence from England\, the colonial era still haunts the streets of Ireland\, not least in folk music\, which has been revived among a generation of young people who take pride in their Irish language and nationality. \n‘Celtic Utopia’ unravels modern Irish history and introduces us to a refreshingly broad cast of characters\, including pierced punks\, rappers\, and ravers\, who come together to revive and reinterpret the classic folk music tradition with humor and renewed indignation. Prominent groups such as The Mary Wallopers and Lankum deliver sharp punchlines and even sharper songs\, of which there are fortunately plenty in the film.

SUMMARY:Dublin\, Guinness og James Joyce
Stephen Knight er manden bag House of Guinness. \nKursuspriser: \n\nDeltager i enkeltværelse: 5.500\,- kr.\nDeltager i delt dobbeltværelse: 4.500\,- kr.\nDeltager uden værelse: 3.500\,- kr.\n\nOpholdet inkluderer fuld forplejning\, kaffe/te/vand undervejs og sengelinned/håndklæde. \nTilmelding: https://www.kursus.tisvildehoejskole.dk/site/index.php?1=1&icCode=6eca69e45b975e740fa58b5529b96c6ab11252&eUID=5A3D40E4-10CB-4BA7-B401-94CB3A55262A-393&dTpl=1

SUMMARY:Almost Irish
DESCRIPTION:Almost Irish is a young folk band from Denmark with experience\, joy of playing\, and a very special musical upbringing. The four members of the band have lived through that upbringing together—because\, having the same mother and father\, they are brothers. The soundtrack to the boys’ childhood played from their father’s record player\, where countless Irish\, Scottish\, and Danish bands and folk singers performed songs that were hard to forget. \nWhen the brothers reached school age\, they each\, one by one\, enrolled in the local music school and began exploring different instruments. In 2002\, they met Derry-born folk musician Denis McLaughlin\, who truly introduced them to the world of Irish folk music\, taught them to play the familiar songs from their childhood\, and thus planted the seed that would grow into what is now Almost Irish. Since then\, the boys have toured extensively across Denmark\, with small detours to Norway\, Germany\, Northern Ireland\, and Scotland. They have released five CDs—or six\, if you count their very first\, now sold-out CD\, produced in a limited run of 15 copies. They’ve worked their way onto stages across the country and have gradually established a recognized and well-known name in the world of folk music. \nAlmost Irish has a deep understanding of traditional Irish and Scottish folk music and the advantage of knowing each other both as musicians and as brothers. Together\, they bring a unique energy and joy of playing to the stage\, and their broad repertoire of traditional songs and melodies reflects interpretation\, creativity\, innovation\, and respect for tradition. Almost Irish are talented musicians—and not least\, storytellers—and have therefore become a respected representative of the folk music tradition.

SUMMARY:Nyahh Records presents: Mohammad Syfkhan SY/IE + Ultan O’Brien IE + HEDGLING IE
Koncerten præsenteres sammen med Final Descent.\n“I started Nyahh Records because I kept hearing new music in Ireland that I was really excited about and wanted to work with\, and that I thought deserved to reach more people. I find the quality of what’s coming out in Ireland right now to be amazing and I want to help to highlight it\,” har Willie Stewart\, der står bag det irske label Nyahh records\, udtalt. Nyahh? “I like that the Nyahh is unclassifiable\,” sagde han i det samme interview\, “That’s how I would like the releases on the label to be as well”. Woven Skull\, Boneyard Witch og Divil A’ Bit. \n\nJoin us on this unique tour of contemporary Irish folk music\, for a concert evening curated by Willie Stewart from the exciting Irish indie label Nyahh Records. The concert is presented in collaboration with Final Descent. \n“I started Nyahh Records because I kept hearing new music in Ireland that I was really excited about and wanted to work with\, and that I thought deserved to reach more people. I find the quality of what’s coming out in Ireland right now to be amazing and I want to help to highlight it\,” says Willie Stewart\, the founder of the Irish label Nyahh Records. He has now put together two different concert evenings at Alice with exactly that purpose: to showcase some of the most interesting and experimental Irish music right now. \nAll of the artists you can experience across these two evenings are affiliated with Nyahh Records. But what is this … Nyahh? According to Willie Stewart\, Nyahh refers to the soul inherent in music. But also to something that cannot quite be defined. “I like that the Nyahh is unclassifiable\,” he said in the same interview. “That’s how I would like the releases on the label to be as well.” Nyahh Records mainly releases experimental music and folk music from Ireland. And tonight you can look forward to violin virtuosity\, the sound of the bouzouki\, and atmospheric compositions filled with field recordings. \nHEDGLINGHedgling is a new duo consisting of Natalia Beylis and Willie Stewart\, the founder of Nyahh Records. They have previously played together in several bands\, including Woven Skull\, Boneyard Witch\, and Divil A’ Bit. With HEDGLING\, they build on these collaborations to create a new musical dimension. Their sound moves through the space between the familiar and the unknown parallel worlds that exist around\, above\, and beneath us. Percussion constellations made from found objects\, creaking harmonium drones\, and field recordings from the bogs and forests surrounding their home merge into an intimate portrait of the world they share. \nUltan O’BrienUltan O’Brien is a violinist and composer from the west of Ireland\, who works with both traditional Irish music as well as sound art and experimental music. With his unique approach and technique\, Ultan O’Brien brings something new to an ancient tradition\, sparking celebration and deep emotions wherever he tunes his violin. \nMohammad SyfkhanMohammad Syfkhan is a singer and bouzouki player. He began playing music in 1980 while studying to become a nurse. After graduating\, Mohammad moved to the city of Raqqa in Syria\, where he also began working as a professional singer and formed his own band\, The Al-Rabie Band. They performed at concerts\, parties\, weddings\, and festivals all over Syria and quickly became a sought-after orchestra. Their live performances included Kurdish\, Arabic\, Turkish\, and some Western songs\, as well as Mohammad’s own material. \nMohammad continued to perform with his band while also working as an operating room nurse until the war in Syria broke out in 2011. During the war\, Mohammad lost his son\, who was murdered by ISIS. After that\, the family had no choice but to leave their home and flee to Europe. Three of Mohammad’s sons settled in Germany\, while Mohammad\, his daughter\, and his wife moved to Ireland. Since then\, Mohammad has used the language of music to integrate into the local community\, performing at private parties and concerts.

SUMMARY:Nyahh Records presents: E the Artist IE/NG + Natalia Beylis & Eimear Reidy IE + Méabh McKenna IE
DESCRIPTION:Join us on this unique tour of contemporary Irish folk music\, at a concert evening curated by Willie Stewart from the exciting Irish indie label Nyahh Records. The concert is presented in collaboration with Final Descent. \n“I started Nyahh Records because I kept hearing new music in Ireland that I was really excited about and wanted to work with\, and that I thought deserved to reach more people. But what is this … Nyahh? According to Willie Stewart\, Nyahh refers to the soul inherent in music. But also to something you can’t quite put your finger on. “I like that the Nyahh is unclassifiable\,” he said in the same interview. “That’s how I would like the releases on the label to be as well.” Nyahh Records mainly releases experimental music and folk music from Ireland. And tonight you can look forward to everything from harp playing fused with electronica\, to high-energy rap\, and instrumental music that will transport you to another dimension. On the evening you can experience: \nMéabh McKennaMéabh McKenna is a multi-instrumental sound artist based in Eastern Ireland. She plays various types of harp and also uses her voice\, electronics\, and found objects to create her enchanting sound. With many years of experimentation and collaboration behind her\, her live performances have evolved from creating eclectic worlds of traditional\, classical\, and early music to weaving them together with contemporary and electronic elements. Her performances are in dialogue with both past and present\, interlacing inner and imagined worlds. \nE The ArtistDaranijoh Sanni\, better known as E The Artist\, is an experimental rapper\, producer\, and art director from Ayrfield in North Dublin. Inspired by Afrofuturism\, E The Artist reimagines modern Black club genres in their loudest\, boldest\, and most intense expressions. Dance and rap styles\, from jungle to grime\, fuse with heavier tracks. With roots in Ireland\, E The Artist turns his gaze toward the ever-emerging neocultures growing across the diaspora. You can be sure to be blown away by E The Artist’s high-energy show! \nEimear Reidy & Natalia BeylisCellist Eimear Reidy and experimental all-round artist Natalia Beylis conjure forest landscapes\, cosmic moonrises\, and drone journeys in their mesmerizing and seductive music. Based in Leitrim\, Ireland\, the duo has developed a distinctive musical language representing common ground between their individual styles. Often\, the cellist and multi-instrumentalist improvise at their joint performances\, where the tones intertwine like the roots of ancient trees. \nIn 2021\, they released their first album together\, followed in 2023 by the successor She Came Through the Window to Stand by the Door\, recorded on Ireland’s second-oldest organ. Writing about the second album in The Quietus\, Daryl Worthington noted: “The idea of sound being world building is common in ‘electronic’ music\, whether modular or computer. Beylis and Reidy show that surroundings can be bypassed with acoustic means\, and the conjured realms can be full of motion and life. Transportive isn’t quite the right word. Their music induces hyperphantasia.” Look forward to stepping into new worlds with Eimear Reidy and Natalia Beylis! \nWillie Stewart has curated two different concert evenings. If you wish to attend both\, you’ll need to purchase two separate tickets. \nI 2021 udgav de deres første album sammen\, og i 2023 fulgte opfølgeren She Came Through the Window to Stand by the Door\, indspillet på Irlands næstældste orgel. Om det andet album skrev Daryl Worthington i The Quietus\, at: “The idea of sound being world building is common in ‘electronic’ music\, whether modular or computer. Beylis and Reidy show that surroundings can be bypassed with acoustic means\, and the conjured realms can be full of motion and life. Transportive isn’t quite the right word. Their music induces hyperphantasia.”

SUMMARY:Ye Vagabonds
DESCRIPTION:The group Ye Vagabonds was founded by brothers Diarmuid and Brían Mac Gloinn\, who are known for their beautiful vocal harmonies and their ability to bring old melodies to life. Join us and experience their soulful musical expression\, which has made them leading figures in the new wave of Irish folk music. \nBrothers Diarmuid and Brían Mac Gloinn\, the duo behind Ye Vagabonds\, are part of a new generation revitalizing Irish folk. Originally from Carlow\, they moved to Dublin over ten years ago\, where they still live today. Ye Vagabonds are celebrated for their exquisite harmonies and their gift for reinterpreting traditional songs. Their influences draw from Ulster’s rich singing traditions as well as North American folk music. And if those references don’t immediately ring a bell\, they’ve summed up their sound quite simply themselves: “brothers\, old melodies\, close harmonies.” A short description for a sound that reaches deep into the soul! \nIn recent years\, Ye Vagabonds have been touring extensively as headliners and have also opened for artists such as Patti Smith\, Hozier\, Phoebe Bridgers\, boygenius\, Dermot Kennedy\, and Vampire Weekend. They have won “Best Track\,” “Best Album\,” and “Best Folk Group” at the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards. \nThis year\, they’re releasing new material — and who knows\, we might be lucky enough to experience it live when the Irish folk brothers take the stage at ALICE! \n\n\nKøb billetter her: https://alicecph.com/event/ye-vagabonds-ie/

SUMMARY:The Scratch live in Pumpehuset
DESCRIPTION:The Scratch are a band that don’t seem to fit in anywhere\, but have proven they fit in everywhere. Starting out with just acoustic guitars and a wooden box back in 2016\, the band immediately made a splash in their hometown of Dublin\, releasing their debut EP ‘Old Songs’ in 2018. Seemingly unable to stick to one genre\, they consciously move between heavy metal\, Irish folk\, stadium rock and post-punk. They are constantly evolving both creatively and sonically\, never taking themselves too seriously as individuals\, but always putting their souls into the music. They have won the hearts of everyone who has experienced their live shows\, which have attracted a cult-like following in Ireland\, the UK and most recently mainland Europe and North America \n\n\nThe Scratch er et band\, der ikke ser ud til at passe ind nogen steder\, men som har bevist\, at de passer ind overalt.

SUMMARY:Det forvandlede Irland
DESCRIPTION:Det forvandlede Irland\n\n\n\n\nVed dr.phil.\, lektor em. Michael Böss\, AU \nMidt under 1. DESCRIPTION:Experience a touching\, strong and haunting film starring Oscar-winner Cillian Murphy (‘Oppenheimer’) about compassion\, responsibility and courage\, based on the bestselling novel by Claire Keegan (‘The Quiet Girl’).\nOn the 30th of October\, Angel Films are releasing SMALL THINGS LIKE THESE in cinemas all over Denmark. A film that reminds us that the sins of the past are not far behind us. \nIreland\, 1980’s. While working as a coal merchant in order to support his family\, the devoted dad Bill Furlong discovers disturbing secrets kept hidden by the local church. The church is holding young girls\, who are pregnant out of wedlock\, confined against their will. Suddenly\, Bill’s own past submerges\, and as a father of five daughters\, he finds himself in a destructive moral dilemma. His discoveries force him to confront the silent complicity of the small town under the control of the Catholic church and to come to terms with his own past. \nThe film had its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival where Emily Watson (‘Breaking the Waves’) won the Silver Bear for Best Supporting Performance. D. 30. oktober har Angel Films Danmarkspremiere på SMALL THINGS LIKE THESE i en lang række biografer landet over.
